I recently had the privilege to present at the annual Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society (WHPRMS) conference. As a state SHSMD chapter, the conference attracted participants from leading hospitals and health systems throughout the state.
The opportunity allowed me to speak about physician burnout and why it is important that organizations dedicate resources to improve overall physician engagement and satisfaction.
Throughout the health industry, physician engagement is widely recognized as a key measurement that directly impacts revenue, reputation, and experience. Consistent physician engagement strategies are proven to reduce the levels of physician dissatisfaction and improve employment retention rates. Physician communication and marketing programs are one of the unique specialties of ddm that set us apart from other healthcare consumer marketing agencies.
Conference participants also heard from other industry marketing experts on topics such as creating audience personas; price transparency; how brand affects patient experience; data driven marketing; and integrating content strategies.
In addition to hot topics in marketing, communication, and public relations, the conference also included an update from members of the Wisconsin Hospital Association, who provided an update on key advocacy issues currently being discussed with Wisconsin policymakers.
As the theme indicated, marketers are now experiencing what has become a “new normal” within our industry, and while the 2020 conference did not allow participants to learn, network, and socialize in person, the energy and enthusiasm for healthcare marketing and communications was as apparent as ever.
