Great American Spaces Client Profile
After numerous years as distribution partners, Lumbermen’s purchased Michigan PreStain. Among its products, Michigan PreStain had developed a proprietary process of milling and finishing dimensional wood to produce the character of vintage planking with the convenience of modern engineering. While well-versed in distribution, selling a product line that had to be manufactured, branded and marketed was entirely new for the company.

Seizing the opportunity to carry this product to national prominence, Lumbermen’s sought the skills of ddm to create a national brand and marketing effort. ddm worked with Lumbermen’s to develop a new brand from the ground up. New name. New identity. New positioning. Everything was built around the experience of bringing the outdoors in with real warmth, real texture and real vintage character for walls, ceilings and more. Developing a brand that reflected this experience in name as well as visual and written form was key to developing a compelling foundation in the minds and hearts of key audiences. Recreating popular American interiors, a new brand was crafted with the name “Great American Spaces.”
With its brand clearly defined, ddm worked with Lumbermen’s to apply it to product positioning, product architecture, sales materials, packaging, website, social media channels, advertising, and other marketing tactics.
